Frontiers of AI Robot-Driven Science — Reports from IROS 2026 and CMU Cloud Lab —
October 9, 2026 (Fri) 9:30-10:30 JST
In this seminar, a participant of the "Workshop on Robotics & Automation in Self-Driving Laboratories," held at IROS 2026—one of the top international conferences in robotics—reported on robotics research for the natural sciences.
We also presented a report on our site visit to the Carnegie Mellon University Cloud Lab (CMU Cloud Lab).
Master's Student (1st year), Department of Materials Science and Engineering, School of Materials and Chemical Technology, Institute of Science Tokyo
At his university, he studies defect formation and defect concentrations in materials using first-principles calculations under Prof. Fumiyasu Oba. At NIMS, he worked on Self-Driving Laboratory (SDL) research under Dr. Naruki Yoshikawa and Dr. Ryo Tamura, and presented this work as a poster at the IROS 2026 Workshop on Robotics & Automation in Self-Driving Laboratories.
